The explosive device was found inside the church campus of the Manmasi Messianic Council Centre, located within the ADC Kangpokpi complex by the church chowkidar while cleaning the church. As per reports, the chowkidar found the explosive on the ground and immediately alerted the police. Kangpokpi police personnel led by inspector L. Vaiphei, immediately rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area while the 25 Assam Rifles also reached the spot within a short while and the security forces took stock of the situation.
Meanwhile, local MLA Nemcha Kipgen on hearing about the explosive found inside the church campus visited the church and strongly condemned the incident. She said that the church vicinity is a holy place and such explosive which could cause harm to innocent people in the surrounding areas is very unfortunate and unacceptable. Kipgen gave out a call to not turn the holy site into a sinfully menacing zone and let people worship in peace and added that it could be a curse to impure the Holy place.
She also appealed to all to avoid the path of violence and pioneer the spirit of serenity and tranquility. The Manmasi Messianic Council Centre also vehemently condemned the incident and decried the alleged attempted to create instability and apprehension among the church members in particular and the people living in surrounding areas
